About Short Term Effect

This blog is, hmm… nothing special. Just personal.

I’m not gonna pretend that I know a lot of things, and that I have what it takes to argue with people about blogging and stuff. As oppose to my brother who is capable of writing intelligent and intellectual pieces (though I know some people would beg to disagree nyahahaha), I am more of a mood writer. Whatever that means.

The blog’s name is also a title of a song on drugs by one of my favorite bands of all time, The Cure. I really don’t know why I chose it since I don’t do drugs and I am trying hard not to succumb to writing “emo” (in my day it was good old “angst”) posts. It’s just that I have been listening to a lot of The Cure songs lately, and these lines from said song kill me:

A day without substance
A change of thought
An atmosphere that rots with time
Colours that flicker in water
A short term effect

I also just felt like using the title. Besides, if you are aware of my blogging history, you may have noticed that most of my online journals never get past the 2 year mark – which brings me to my decision to use free hosting.

Since I am not sure if I am willing to commit myself long term to this endeavor (personal blogging), I opted to use WordPress, which would enable me an easy transition if ever I do get my own domain. Besides, doing so would be a little expensive for me right now. As you know, I am currently a free spirit and therefore a little short on dough.

So there. I though of ending this entry with something as cheesy as, “I am not expecting to change the world with this little thing, and I do not mean to. For all I know, what I write here may not stick to people’s minds for more than 10 seconds. After all, it’s only a short term effect.”

But I’d rather not. I’d rather end with this, “Ciao!
